For 2025, the finance law provides for two significant changes, resulting in bad news and good news.
Let's start with the one that will shock owners of vehicles with large administrative powers, fortunately for the others, since the only price change is for the category of passenger vehicles and vehicles converted into utility vehicles with a power of 10 hp. For vehicles less than 3 years old, the price will increase from 10,000 to 25,000 DA. The price will increase from 6,000 to 20,000 DA for vehicles between 3 and 6 years old. From 4,000 to 15,000 DA for vehicles over 6 to 10 years old and from 3,000 to 10,000 DA for vehicles over 10 years old.
For the good news, it is in the novelty of the online purchase of the vignette, via the Edahabia or CIB cards, with a receipt to print to present it during road checks, following article 56 the creation of article 301 bis within the stamp code. This article stipulates that "notwithstanding the provisions of article 301 of this code, the automobile vignette can be acquired online".
"The vignette acquired online as well as its payment receipt are downloadable. They must be presented, during checks carried out by authorized agents, defined in article 307 of this code", according to the proposed text.
"The obligation to affix the automobile vignette on the windshield of the vehicle does not apply to the vignette acquired online". "In the current state of tax legislation, individuals and legal entities who own motor vehicles registered in Algeria are subject to an annual stamp duty in the form of a sticker," the government recalls in the explanatory statement.
This initiative will avoid long queues at the counters and shortages of the past.
In addition, we can add to the good news register that, from now on, in the event of loss, theft or damage to the sticker purchased online, motorists will be able to reissue it at no additional cost.
The sale date for stickers will be from March 1 to 31, 2025.
