BYD YANGWANG U9

More than a Supercar, YANGWANG, BYD's premium brand, unveils the U9, an electric supercar with the power to "jump" over obstacles up to 6 meters with a maximum height of 3.5 centimeters and to continue its journey, without a driver, even with a destroyed tire. A power that will allow you to save yourself from several critical situations, we could see a new superhero arrive.

Hard to believe? Yet this is what BYD shows us in its film production showing the formidable power of its hero J9.

The secret? A new suspension called Disus capable of making the car take off from the asphalt and overcome obstacles by jumping over them. This is counted from the point where the front wheels leave the asphalt to where the rear wheels land after the jump. Impressive in the movies, but useful in real life to get past potholes.

But that's not the only power of its suspension because it allows the car to dance on the track, and to do pirouettes. It is also equipped with the high-end Dynaudio Evidence Series sound system, which offers an immersive listening experience. Some may see the opportunity to party on Saturday night.

The U9 has a significant length of five meters and moves thanks to the four motors that equip it, one located on each wheel. Together, they offer a combined power of 1,300 hp.

In terms of performance, the U9 can reach a maximum speed of 309.19 km/h, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds and an acceleration from 0 to 400 m in just 9.78 seconds. This is possible thanks to the incorporation of two technologies:

The e4 platform is a propulsion system whose heart is made up of four independent electric motors, offering agile and precise control of the independent torque output of the four wheels, bringing users the ultimate in safety, performance and experience. The YANGWANG U9 develops an impressive 1,300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,680 N·m.

The BYD DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System. The first deployment of the BYD DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System enables the YANGWANG U9 to achieve a maximum adjustable suspension travel of 75 mm, while its maximum single-axis lifting speed can reach 500 mm/s, enabling an instantaneous lifting force of over one ton and facilitating the YANGWANG U9’s remarkable leap forward. These features provide an unparalleled driving experience in various driving scenarios such as braking, acceleration, cornering and road impacts, greatly improving vehicle agility and comfort for drivers and passengers.

In recent tests, the YANGWANG U9 has further refined its thermal management system to better withstand high temperatures, resulting in a 100% increase in maximum cooling capacity. The battery that equips It has a capacity of 80 kWh and can be recovered from 30% to 80% in ten minutes with a fast charger. This is enabled by the Volts 800 architecture on which it is based. The Blade battery facilitates discharging and cooling, while the Dual Plug-in ultra-fast charging technology provides a maximum charging power of 500 kW. The YANGWANG U9 is also equipped with 12 active and passive aerodynamic assemblies to reduce the drag coefficient and improve heat dissipation efficiency.

The YANGWANG U9 features a super carbon fiber cabin, a structure composed of different materials and the next-generation CTB technology. It contributes to an unprecedented torsional rigidity of 54425 Nm/deg and the roof's unilateral compression load exceeds 11 tons, ensuring complete safety on the road.

Intelligent cabin creates an exceptional driving experience

The YANGWANG U9 is equipped with the DiLink150 intelligent platform, based on customized 4nm 5G chips. Specially designed for track driving, it features an intelligent racing assistant that provides comprehensive track driving services with detailed information on nearly 30 racing circuits in China.

Inside, the YANGWANG U9’s cockpit features two 14-way adjustable seats to provide drivers and passengers with a better experience.

A supercar comes with a super price tag of RMB 1.68 million (€223,300).

If BYD is putting its spotlight on the U9, it is to directly confront it with the stars of electric cars, the Teslas. Release: summer 2025.
