RENAULT NN 1925 | Alger

Writer: COCKPITCOCKPIT

One of the oldest existing cars in Algeria, a 1925 Renault NN, was given by Louis Renault to Vincent Gerin, the first Renault dealer in Algeria and a racing driver.

Note that the steering wheel is on the right, as Renault adopted the left-hand drive position only in 1932.

Vincent Gerin (1872-1956) was one of the first workers in the Renault workshops in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, before moving to Algeria and becoming a multi-brand agent for French brands, including Renault. He practiced car racing alone or with his mechanic and also contributed to the organization of the Dion Bouton racing circuit, for which he was also a dealer: the 1903 European-African circuit. This 7,240-km circuit, starting in Brussels, crossed France, Spain, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria before returning to Brussels, the starting point.

He also piloted one of the BLERIOT monoplanes, with which he conducted training sessions at the Manoeuvre Field in Algiers.

As for the history of this NN, he treasured it until his death in 1956, then remained in a garage until 2016 before being restored.
