The 1953 3 Hours of Algiers took place on May 23 and 24 on the quays of the banks of Algiers organized by the Moto Club of Algiers, a fast 5.5km circuit covered 80 times.
It is a race with a motorcycle category and a car category which had its first edition in 1951.
The Motorcycle Race
There were two categories: solo motorcycle (175cc, 250cc, 350cc, 500cc) and sidecar.
Jacques Drion won the 350solo, 500solo, and 500sidecar categories.
The Auto Race
On the starting line 34 competitors, After a lightning start P. Boncompagni “Pagnibon” takes the lead and will not be caught. He won the 3 hours of Algiers at an average of 138 km with an average speed of 138 km/h on a Ferrari 340 MM Berlinetta.
Other annual editions will take place until independence in 1962.
