The Aston Martin DB6 Volante Series II (1969) of the British Royal Family

Writer: COCKPITCOCKPIT

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Philip Mountbatten purchased this Seychelles Blue DB6 Volante in 1969 as a 21st birthday present for their son, Prince Charles. It is a DB6 Volante Mk1 (1965-1970 production: 1967 units), that is, a DB6 equipped with the 282 hp L6 4.0 L and built using the Superleggera technology developed by Touring, worth $80,000 at the time (about £140,000 today).

He has always owned it but has made some ecological modifications since 2008, since its engine fuel system has been running on bioethanol!

In an interview with the BBC, Prince Charles detailed his changes, which included using waste as fuel. "It runs on surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese process (whey)."

A transformation that did not please Aston Martin's management, but you can't refuse your Prince anything.

Another sign, this one, directly linked to the particularity of Queen Elizabeth II, a mascot is affixed to the hood of the DB6 just like the Queen's cars.

A car he adores and that even the princess's bottom is not welcome in, even though this first one was used during his weddings with Diana and Camilla.

A car that seems to be associated with the royal family and passed down to future heirs, as it was also used for the wedding of his son William to Kate Middleton.
